History  
    • St. Patrick was a Christian missionary who brought Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century.
    • He was born in Roman Britain, kidnapped as a slave, and brought to Ireland at age 16.
    • He later escaped and returned to Ireland, where he is credited with spreading Christianity.
    • The holiday started as a religious feast day, but became a secular celebration of Irish culture when it came to the United States.
